A Taste of the
Peak District, Derbyshire cycle hire - Parsley Hay, High Peak Trail, Tissington Trail bike hire centre, B&B, self catering holiday cottage accommodation, hotels, tourist attractions, walking, climbing, mountain biking history, towns, villages, geology, mining, local information, Derbyshire businesses and much more …
Traffic free cycling along the High Peak Trail or the Tissington Trail, two dismantled railways. Close to Hartington, Monyash and also Arbor Low, Derbyshire's most important prehistoric henge.
Parsley Hay (High Peak Trail, Tissington Trail) Bike Hire Centre
Located near the junction of the High Peak Trail and the Tissington Trail.
Around 30 miles of traffic free cycling along the two trails. At Parsley Hay you will find toilets,
pay and display car park, souvenir and cycle accessories shop in the visitor centre plus picnic
refreshments and home made cakes (the kiosk has random opening times, unless it it likely to be a busy day, it may not be open. Parsley Hay was the junction of the Cromford
and High Peak Railway where the Ashbourne branch, connecting Ashbourne
and Buxton, joined. The Tissington Trail is probably the nicer of the two in terms of varied scenery but be warned, it is pretty much all uphill on the way back (not steep, just persistent!). The High Peak trail always seems flatter to us.
The bike hire centre and car parking are managed and run by the Peak District National Park Authority. The hire shop is manned by friendly staff and they have plenty of bikes available including hand cranked cycles, other bikes to cater for the disabled market and for those who are not regular cyclists, there are electric bikes to hire. A piece of identification and a returnable deposit is required for cycle hire.
