Providing a Sports Massage service in the Derbyshire area.
Deep soft tissue massage to relieve muscular tension and imbalance.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage is the term used to describe massage therapy for the positive
benefits of all participants in any sport or activity. It can also help those
suffering muscle stress from inactivity, such as long distance driving or
computer work.
Through the manipulation and stretching of muscles and connective tissues,
sports massage can help you achieve optimum performance.
It is stronger and deeper than most massages and is specific to parts of
the body that are affected by stress or injury.
The benefits of sports massage
- Reduces muscular tension, stress and fatigue
- Improves flexibility and suppleness
- Improves responsiveness of muscles and joints
- Improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow
- Rehabilitates soft tissue after injuries or over-use
- Helps with mental and physical relaxation
About Janine
Qualifications
I have a Level 4 SPS Diploma in Sports Massage. I qualified in July 2008
having spent six months gaining practical experience and studying at Nottingham
University.
Level 4 is the highest level of qualification attainable in Sports Massage
and is the level required for membership of the Sports Massage Association.
As a member of this professional organisation I am required to regularly
attend seminars and tutorials to help keep my knowledge and practical skills
up to date with the latest developments. The Sports Massage Association is
the only organisation recognised by the International Olympic Association.
I have full professional insurance and, unlike some practitioners, I am
fully covered for all treatments. I also have an appropriate first aid qualification.
All in all you can be assured that you are in good hands!
Background
As a former rugby player for, amongst others, London Welsh
Ladies, I have a strong appreciation of the physical demands of sporting
performance on
the muscles. This knowledge is fundamental to my ability to maintain an athlete’s
muscular well being.
I have now retired from rugby and train as a recreational tri-athlete, last
year completing the Salford Olympic Triathlon.
