Life in a Lens is a museum presenting all aspects of photographic history from Victorian times to more recent years. The museum is very atmospheric and is set in a renovated Victorian house in the middle of North Parade in scenic Matlock Bath. As well as having large collection of photographic items including cameras, postcards, and packaging, there is a collection of mannequins in original vintage costume to add to the atmosphere of days gone by. The museum is very popular with all age groups and is presented to be of interest to all the family.
The museum is set on the first floor of the building and is accessed through the Victorian Teashop (see below). The exhibits are arranged in a series of themed rooms such as the seaside room.
