A Taste of the
Peak District
Peak District, Derbyshire property for sale, B&B, self catering holiday cottage accommodation, hotels, tourist attractions, walking, climbing, mountain biking history, towns, villages, geology, mining, local information, Derbyshire businesses and much more …
The Peak District contains a wealth of towns and villages, each with their own unique character. In the past, lead mining and agriculture were the principal sources of income, tourism has perhaps taken over from the mining but agriculture still supports many local inhabitants.
Tom Bates has spent many years researching and writing about the county of Derbyshire. Click here to view his work.
On this page you can find out more about Tom’s series of leaflets about the Peak District entitled 'Peak Villages - an Insiders Guide'

Derbyshire writer Tom Bates has visited each of the villages in this massive series of 65 leaflets in order to write his 'Insider's Guide' series. Much of the information has come from the locals themselves, parish records and the like.
The result of many months of painstaking research was a series of articles, published in ‘Reflections’ magazine, here, the articles have been updated, augmented and had new photographs added to become the first set of leaflets about the villages of the Peak District published in over 30 years.
But these are not just mass produced leaflets. They are individually printed and hand made in the county of Derbyshire.
These full colour leaflets contain …
